Introduction

The Aggregate Levy Sustainability Board has provided funding for the provision of a NEW multi-media resource centre and development of a NEW and innovative learning programme focused on schools and colleges in Wales.  This centre and the associated courses will be available from June 2008.

The Moving Mountains programme is made up of a range of modules mapped to the curriculum / framework requirements from Foundation to Advanced level and from Primary to Post-16.

EXAMPLES OF MODULES

  • Sustainability

  • Tourism in a rural environment

  • Developing a business

  • Lifecycle of a quarry

A programme can be assembled using combinations of modules to meet your curriculum / framework needs. You can also take advantage of the iEARN UK Learning Circle structure to continue your skills development and assessment after your visit to Ty’r Morwydd

All activities have been designed to both DEVELOP and provide opportunities for the ACCREDITATION of KEY SKILLS at appropriate levels

The new ‘Moving Mountains’ project will deliver a learning
 experience which combines the traditional benefits of an
outdoor education experience with state of the art multimedia
 technology, specifically focused on:

14-19 Learning Core

• Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification (WBQ)
                - Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced Level

• Key Skills

The resources will support delivery of a variety of qualifications, for example Leisure & Tourism, Applied Science, Business Studies, Geography, Geology, Media, Construction and Outdoor Education.  For an overview of the modules and curriculum links Click Here

The new learning centre will be based in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons National Park and provide a digital classroom of smart boards, video editing, online resources and study areas. These indoor and outdoor resources will be used to deliver packages tailored to meet the Welsh curriculum and education and training requirements for students aged from 8 to 80 years.
